How to be successful in practice

If you have been practicing for a while now or in the process of starting it, then I'm sure you have asked yourself this question. While we have ample information on materia medica and repertory and case studies, no one ever spoke of the nitwits of practice as a business. While I don't want you to start practice with a cut throat business attitude, completely avoiding it is a sure shot way to failure.

So while there is a lot on how to approach practice as business, on this first post, let's just stick to some very basic principles.

1. Think big
Nothing is more important than what you think of yourself. Every successful doctor has had to start as a novice, full of doubts and insecurity, but it is those who stuck to their guts and overcame their fears who made it to the top.

Homeopathy can't win, if a handful of doctors gave miraculous results, majority of us must. You can be one of them too. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

2. Charge decent
The first question everyone opening a clinic has is what to charge. Charge what you think you are worth. I'm not going to figure it out for you. But considering the locality, your immediate competition and the best doctor, think of an appropriate number and stick to it.

Don't be shy to ask. Just be sure to give in the best you've got for that person and you'd be glad.

3. Be committed
The difference between working at another's successful running clinic and your new clinic is the productive hours put into that clinic. So be there. Every single day. All 4 hours or 8 hrs or whatever time it is that you mentioned on the board.

4. Put your 100%
Never give less than your best for every patient that walks into your clinic.
If you want to succeed, then you have to show results. Take whichever you want, specifics, polypharmacy, single dose, predictive, sensation, sehgal, anything will do, but give results.

5. Talk about your success
Don't be shy to talk about your cases, your results. Please don't lie. People will find out.

6. Document
Never forget to document your cases.

7. Testimonial
Have a good result. Take testimonials.

8. Ask for help
Finding it difficult, feeling stuck. Ask for help. No one makes it to the top all by himself, even though we want to.
