Limitless scope of Homeopathy Predictive Chennai Seminar cases - Day 1, Case 1
The following is the 1st part of a compilation of cases in the Predictive Homeopathy, Chennai Seminar organised on 25th and 26th March 2017. The pictures/slide have been compiled Dr. B Archana SriVardha. And I have added further personal notes for detailed real time understanding.
Case 1. Hypoxic Brain Injury
It is a well known fact that if a child doesnt cry on birth, it is prone to have some problems in its immediate development. To an extent, that pediatricians prepare parents of these children for possible retardation, cerebral palsy, development delay - walking/talking etc. Little do they know that Homeopathy has the potential to reverse the effects and prevent any progression.
Chief complaint
The following case is of a 4yr old male child unable to talk, walk, or stand on his own. Father had to carry him. H/o LSCS and did not cry after birth. They however had no idea that every thing had a reason.
History
The C-section itself was related to the mother, her mental state, influencing her birthing process. The husband was a spiritual man, who went about place to place doing bhajans, pujas, discourses for weeks together, and the mother was all by herself. Even after repeated pleading, the husband dint stay home for long and the mother was in a state of loneliness. Finally angry, she went to develop UTIs, which was suppressed by antiboitics. UTI is a psoric reaction which when suppressed pushed the mother into sycosis - she and the child developed laxness, slowness, no force.
Sir mentioned that psoric process would be normal delivery, any obstruction would require c-section. Following the delivery, the child dint cry and need to be hit to be stimulated, but the damage had occurred and and developed abnormalities. He was diagnosed with hypoxic brain injury. When made to stand he would take all his weight on his toes and heels dint touch the ground.
Investigations had revealed scanty blood supply to the brain along with atherosclerotic changes and even sclerosis.
General observation of the child
Memory was good, but intellect poor. A video showed the child finding it difficult to stand on his own, needed to be held. and yet stood on his toes and fell forward if left unsupported. And the child was cheerful and laughing despite of all this.
Peculiar associated complaint
Another very peculiar complaint the father raised was that a small patch of hair on the vertex would change color every month, from black to white and then again turn red and then black.
So now what? How was the case to be proceeded? We had all the history but what next? Sir mentioned always look for what is to be cured in the case.
First determine what type of case are you treating
In this case, we had to first determine whether it was an acute case or a chronic one. Should we treat it as a case of injury? Or consider the ailments from grief? He explained that ailments from are most applicable to acute cases only and not in structural cases.
Find out miasmatic base of the pathology
So in this case, we cant take the cause, since the child is 4 yrs old and there is arteriosclerotic changes which is thickening - sycotic, and sclerosis - destruction - syphilitic. There was no inflammation. Though the initial cause was injury/trauma, the reactions can be different. It can either be
Psoric - simple physiology at work. Inflammation/Itch in Hahnemann's words.
Sycotic - growth of thicken/ warts.
Syphilitic - destruction of tissues/chancre.
In a psoric reaction, the medicine would have been different. In the presenting scenraio, syscosic had bloomed and arteriosclerosis was the reason for reduced blood supply to the rain parenchyma. And even worse, the child was progressing into syphilis, considering the destruction of his faculties.
In a beautiful representation, sir explained how if psora if suppressed will increase the sycosis which in turn if suppressed will push up the syphilis. And similarly, if syphilis is suppressed or treated, sycosis should go up.
Which symptoms to consider for repertorial analysis
Symptoms to be considered important, for analysis, are sycotic and syphilitic symptoms in psoric cases. Any syphilitic symptoms in sycotic cases. In most cases, acute/chronic - syphilitic symptoms most important.
Ameliorations never show you the true picture of the disease, in fact covers it up just like sycosis. It is the aggravations that gives the real picture. For example, cleaning with water and cloth will never give you a feel of which surface you are working on. It is only harsh force that will tell if it is glass, wood or stone. Similarly severe distorted, peculiar, rare and strange symptoms are syphilitic.
So what happens in case of hypoxic injury will differ from cases to case and so will the approach. For example a psoric reaction would be an acute reaction, at which time the ailments from would be of utmost importance. At delivery, before delivery, mothers state - frightened/angry. Effects on child also important - became blue, which parts were affected - face or legs. How did the new born constitution express it. If we treat at this stage, there would be no need for NICU or any oxygen therapy even.
All you need to do is train yourself to see, for what the mind doesn't know, the eye doesn't see.
Once the structural changes occur, preliminary inflammation is gone and so is the phase of the cause. Now psora would have bloomed to sycosis or syphilis.
Should mind be considered?
When the mind is not functioning well, it should not be considered. Here, Body is King. Once structural changes occur, constitutional remedy has to be given with due respect to syphilitic symptom. Hold on to whatever is strong when the mind is weak. On the same note, yoga has been suggested as a good treatment for cancer and motor neuron diseases when it is very bad. Yoga, which actually works as a bridge between the mind and the body is a poor solution when the mind is unequally weak as compared to the body.
However, genetic traits and genetic behavior of the child and its organs and tissues is most important. Emotional mind is the reaction, eg. - angry, weeping, etc, while genetic mind is the traits inherited from the parents. In schizophrenia, never ask for mental symptoms. But instead, take the intellect at the genetic level. The genetic mind and body are two ends of the same line. If the mind is miserly, the body also will inhibit it in way of accumulations.
So in the child's case, physical symptoms included, legs not putting down. Peculiar symptom of white spot on vertex - hair starts becoming white, red, black, once a month. Always smiling, never complaining. Head large.
So the remedy to be selected must include
- hair affections
- changeable trait
- not to forget the pathology - brain arteriosclerosis, less supply - anemia of brain.
Ars ruled out - no restlessness
Phos - no bleeding
Tab - sry i missed the explanation
Fl.acid - no stability, buoyancy.
In a years time, brain nerve analysis reports had just become normal, arteriosclerotic values decreased. In another year, the child was seen walking on his own and the father narrated that he was even chasing sheep and running around for 1-2 km. Now that's what we want to do, right? (But, hell, I am still struggling with irregular periods and diabetes and the lot!!)
Anyways, so as a conclusion, what was needed was to find out
- what was wrong/what needed to be cured?
- Don't forget the pathology. Both together have to be taken
- What is curative in the medicine. Does the medicine have the power to reverse/cure the pathology. If it is Ars, both mind and body must say Ars.
Hope you understood the case, at least to an extent. I'm sure there are going to be doubts and I look forward to hearing from you. Unfortunately this is all we can learn when we are not physically and emotionally present there. So next time, book a seat or sign up for the predictive modules if you are determined to make the same difference in your patients lives too!!
